Fortune Plastics: Electrical Service Replacement

Fortune Plastics hired JBS as the general contractor for a design-build project to install two new, 3000 amp, three-phase electrical service mains – replacing the existing service – at their Lebanon, TN plant. Fortune Plastics is one of the top can liner manufacturers in the U.S., supplying plastic bags for customers in janitorial, retail, industrial, and food service markets.

Fortune came to JBS with the dangerous problem of an overloaded electrical service at their facility. The JBS team worked with plant managers to assess the electrical demands of the factory, design the appropriate system, remove obsolete equipment and install the new equipment.

It was determined that the single existing electrical feed needed to be split into two new, 3000 amp mains, which required adding a new, 1600 amp feeder and splitting the existing, 1600 amp bus duct at the offset. Two concrete pads and underground piping were also installed for new transformers.

JBS worked with Fortune to insure minimal production down-time and a quality, lasting system. The staff was very pleased with our work to the extent that they asked us to complete additional tasks including wiring & installing a concrete pad for their new chiller, and installing wiring for a new air compressor, air dryer & vacuum pump. That is what we strive to provide: a turn-key product and satisfactory experience that lets you accomplish your mission.
